Help in early years. Cashew Tree School

for Asian Students Christian Trust

£125.00 + £31.25 Gift Aid = £156.25
Donated to Help in early years. Cashew Tree School’s £8000.00 Goal

Cashew Tree School provides education for children aged 4-6 who live on the rubbish dumps of Manila. The families scavenge for food and recyclables but hardly earn enough for basic food, not school. Education is their way out of poverty.

Free Early Years schooling prepares the children with literacy, numeracy, social skills and a belief in themselves that enables them to make use of access to state elementary school when they are 6.

All funds raised will be passed to Asian Students Christian Trust irrespective of whether our appeal target is reached, not reached or exceeded. If funds are being raised for a specific purpose and, for whatever reason, this purpose is no longer valid, the funds will be transferred to the charity for general use.

The charity

Children of the Dump is the operating name of ASCT. The charity transforms the lives of scavenger children through education. The work focuses on the rubbish dumps of Manila in the Philippines where families scrape an existence by scavenging for anything they can sell or eat. We provide a range of services to help the child to go to school. We are a very small UK charity with minimal costs.

Registered charity (no. 272328).

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
