Christmas 2019 appeal for IT project in Guinea

for Alanouwaly Salifou Sylla Foundation

£520.00 + £105.00 Gift Aid = £625.00
Donated to Christmas 2019 appeal for IT project in Guinea’s £400.00 Goal

Can you help us to restore the electricity and IT learning project to its full capacity?

Last Christmas we fundraised to repair the solar electricity hit by lightning at the Alanouwaly Centre.

With this we salvaged what was possible. Regrettably some solar panels, charge controller and converter were not. We have installed thorough lightning protection.

The centre has been working with reduced capacity.

We are fundraising to send solar & electronic equipment to get the projects back to full capacity. More info

Alanouwaly is now working with Hither Green IT in Hither Green to check all donated IT before sending to ensure that they can definitely be of use and to ensure they don’t end up in landfill once they arrive. They can also help to dispose of unusable items in a responsible way. Find out more

All funds raised will be passed to Alanouwaly Salifou Sylla Foundation irrespective of whether our appeal target is reached, not reached or exceeded. If funds are being raised for a specific purpose and, for whatever reason, this purpose is no longer valid, the funds will be transferred to the charity for general use.

The charity

The charity Alanouwaly Salifou Sylla was formed in the memory of Salif Sylla, an outstanding performer and teacher of Guinean and West-African music who had plans to help and create opportunities in his native Guinea. He died young in a car crash in 2008 and his friend and family have been inspired by him to continue his work ever since: we hold a Family music festival with food, stalls and activities in his spirit every last Saturday in September. We promote cultural exchange through teaching in schools and for adults and music performances. In Africa we are supporting our partners to create a Community Centre to run projects to improve the lives of local people. They are running a computer learning project, a clean water project and there is a guest house for people to come and visit, contribute, learn music. We welcome any kind of contribution. Just contact us if you want to become involved or want anymore information. You can see more detail on our website. Life is short and to join with others and do something positive is very rewarding however little the action..

Registered charity (no. 1156274).

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
