Christmas appeal - daftari (school books)

for The Tumaini Fund (Scotland)

£1116.50 + £145.63 Gift Aid = £1262.13
Donated to Christmas appeal - daftari (school books)’s £5000.00 Goal

The Tumaini Fund are supporting 6,500 orphans in secondary school in Kagera this year. Although there are no longer school fees, children must have 10 hard backed school jotters (daftari) in order to go to school. These cost £10 per child for the year.

We will join with our sister Tumaini charities in order to raise funds needed to keep our Tumaini supported orphans in Secondary School.

Thank you for joining us in this.

All funds raised will be passed to The Tumaini Fund (Scotland) irrespective of whether our appeal target is reached, not reached or exceeded. If funds are being raised for a specific purpose and, for whatever reason, this purpose is no longer valid, the funds will be transferred to the charity for general use.

The charity

'Tumaini' is the Swahili word for hope and The Tumaini Fund (Scotland) is a Scottish christian charity seeking to bring hope to widows and orphans affected by HIV in Kagera, NW Tanzania.

We work alongside our partners at The Tumaini Fund (Tanzania) in delivering life transforming, practical support to over 25,000 orphans and widows of all faiths or none.

We are passionate about helping to resource the team of dedicated social workers and parish workers in Kagera, and our aim is to raise awareness in Scotland and generate support from here which will help resource this local team.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
