WESTGATE ARTS HUB

Grantham Dramatic Society would really value your support to help us renovate the rear of the old Market Café/former nightclub on Westgate in Grantham.

We are striving to craft the perfect base for rehearsals and to create our productions, but also to act ultimately as an affordable community resource, sharing space with other artists and performers, for workshops, meetings, social gatherings.

We've made good progress with the renovations but urgently need funding to transform this space and cover the costs of installing a new kitchen and purchasing carpets, chairs, tables and other materials.

We are a charity staffed only by volunteers, who believe passionately in the power of the arts to uplift and entertain, build confidence and friendships. Everyone has talents we can actively use in some way, but right now we need your donations, large or small, to make sure we can offer a warm, safe environment to continue our work.

Founded in 1945, we look forward to our 75th anniversary in 2020 and hope to celebrate with a shiny new performance space in the heart of Grantham!

Thank you so much for your support!

All funds raised will be passed to Grantham Dramatic Society irrespective of whether our appeal target is reached, not reached or exceeded. If funds are being raised for a specific purpose and, for whatever reason, this purpose is no longer valid, the funds will be transferred to the charity for general use.

The charity

Grantham Dramatic Society (GDS) is a local amateur dramatic society and registered charity, established in 1945. Our main aim is to foster and promote the knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of the dramatic arts amongst the people of Grantham and the surrounding area. Taking part in the dramatic arts can enhance lives, helping people discover new talents and build self-confidence.

GDS engages in live theatre performances as well as short sketches, outdoor events and promotional videos, and numerous social and fundraising activities. We positively encourage people from all sectors of the local community to join in our activities.

Registered charity (no. 256227).

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
