ZEF’21 – Zenith Edinburgh Fringe

The project is a follow on from PROJECT ZEF in 2018 (See Aims for further information) and we are now seeking funding for is ZEF’21. The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the largest arts festival in the world and we would like to offer Zenith members the opportunity to take a performance of their creation to the festival.

The project will involve bringing up to 40 Zenith members to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2021 for one week, presenting four shows a day – four different shows with four different casts. These shows will be performed at an existing Fringe Venue TBC in 2020. Prior to the festival, we will also be staging a small fringe festival in a pop-up theatre and will be inviting other local groups and schools across all parts of parts of Bath and North-East Somerset to contribute to this with no cost to themselves.

We have a dedicated number of volunteers and trustees who are working together to make this project happen. A wide range of experience from child protection, legal issues, fundraising and marketing, will ensure that this is a safe, well-organised, and enjoyable experience for all involved. We aim to take 40 cast members and ten volunteer chaperones on the trip.

All funds raised will be passed to Zenith Youth Theatre Company irrespective of whether our appeal target is reached, not reached or exceeded. If funds are being raised for a specific purpose and, for whatever reason, this purpose is no longer valid, the funds will be transferred to the charity for general use.

The charity

Zenith Youth Theatre Company, previously known, as "Bodlets" is an entirely voluntary run theatrical society based in Bath and became a registered charity in November 2016.

Zenith Youth Theatre was established in 1963 and is a recipient of the Queens Award for Voluntary Service 2013 (MBE for groups).

It has a no 'audition to join' policy for all young people aged between 13 and 21 who demonstrate an enthusiasm and commitment to the group's aim of musical theatre to the highest standard.

Anyone within the age range can be actively involved in any aspect of theatre production and presentation. Members have two things in common, commitment and enthusiasm thus enabling many different types of young people to enjoy a creative and social experience together, forging friendships and gaining experience outside their normal social circle.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
