I'm running a half-marathon for the first time!
Yes, that’s right - I'm running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in March 2020! I honestly never thought I would sign up to run anything with the word 'marathon' in the title, but I'm doing it because there is a part of me who is deeply curious to know what it feels like to run 13.1 miles, especially through the closed-off streets of London with thousands of other people just as crazy as me (some of whom may even enjoy running) and seeing as the race falls on a significant anniversary in my life, I feel even more inspired to give it a go!
I'm delighted to be running this event in support of Allergy UK. Here is a bit about why this charity is important to me and my family...My 4 year old son is severely allergic to nuts. Just one nut is enough to cause an anaphylactic reaction in his body which has the potential to turn deadly in less than 15 minutes if he doesn't receive urgent medical treatment. We have experienced already two very scary episodes. He is also allergic to several types of pollen and suffers with hayfever-related symptoms including allergy-related asthma each year from the beginning of Spring till the end of Summer, which has a negative impact on his quality of life. Allergy UK have provided us with crucial information and support.
I'd really love to not only achieve, but beat my target for this wonderful organisation, but I cannot do it without your kind and generous donations so please give whatever you can spare, no matter what that may be - every little counts!Thank you so much for supporting me and Allergy UK, and PLEASE come out to cheer me on on race day because I'm REALLY going to need it!!
