Transformational Relationships :: Life to the Full
Bar 'N' Bus is a Christian charity working with young people throughout Essex. We work in partnership with local churches, schools, councils and groups to show the love of God to young people through our interventions. We work with teams of volunteers to engage young people within the community. A large amount of our work takes place 'on the street', however we also provide in-school support through youth work and intensive counselling programmes.
Our Community Youth Work teams research and explore areas in which young people are choosing to gather and then provide welcoming, inclusive and young people-led programmes, exactly where young people want them to be. This means projects could be in parks, high streets or car parks, as long as the team can get there and the young people are involved. Community Youth Work Teams include Bar’N’Bus staff and a team of volunteers (largely from local churches) who offer a regular space for young people to hang out and chat.
This could be after-school provisions, lunch clubs or simply providing a presence during lunchtime by engaging with students in the playground. Our schools work is collaborative in nature and where there is existing provision from local churches or the community we seek to dovetail our work with those services.
This service provides professionally qualified counsellors to engage with young people on a one-to-one basis. The Youth Counselling Service engages young people aged 11–18 through their school.
We believe that God loves the world and cares about each individual—wanting them to live full, positive and meaningful lives. This faith leads us to give our time and efforts to seeking transformation in young peoples lives through support, advice and positive activities. We hope to share God's love with young people, through the programmes that we run.
Bar’N’Bus was founded in 1993 and works in partnership with local churches, councils and schools to serve communities through providing community based youth work and in-school counselling. Working in partnership with local churches, we have delivered thousands of hours of community based youth work utilising converted double decker buses to run volunteer led mobile youth centres. Alongside this work, we provide a professional youth counselling service to local secondary schools, providing young people with the one-to-one support they need.
Join our Community Youth Work or School Support Teams and get stuck in with supporting young people. We run a full Introduction to Youth Work Training Programme for all volunteers so drop us a message ([email protected]) to find out about when the next programme is running of take a look at the events section of our page.
Every donation, whatever size, makes a different. One-off donations can be made through this page, however, if you would like to give regularly to the work of Bar'N'Bus please email [email protected]
If you are a church or community group looking to increase your work with young people we would love to talk with you about partnership opportunities and how we could work together for the benefit for your community. Please drop us an email at [email protected]

The Co-operative Bank are proud to be the main sponsorship partner of the Wonderful Organisation supporting charities to make a difference by ensuring 100% of donations go directly to doing good. Learn more about the Bank’s values and ethics.
We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.
We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.
We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
