CALICO (Cancer and Leukaemia in Children Orientated) is a local charitable organisation in the Grampian Region set up in 1983. Our aim is to help and support all families who have children suffering from cancer, leukaemia or cancer related illness.
The first priority of CALICO is to the family of any child with cancer or leukaemia to alleviate, where possible, financial stress caused by additional expenses. We take advice from the social workers based at RACH concerning the needs of families without infringing their privacy.
Each year CALICO provides essential equipment for the Oncology Ward at the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital, as well as toys, games and craft supplies for the outpatients department.
The Rainbow Trail is supported and funded by CALICO; the beads represent procedures, interventions and outcomes and are given to each child as they start and then move through their cancer journey.
CALICO is a local charity where every penny raised goes to helping the families affected by cancer. All committee members are volunteers and there are no overhead expenses.

The Co-operative Bank are proud to be the main sponsorship partner of the Wonderful Organisation supporting charities to make a difference by ensuring 100% of donations go directly to doing good. Learn more about the Bank’s values and ethics.
We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.
We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.
We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
