WAIT TO SEE THE SMALLER ME
The world's first time bank was started in Japan by Teruko Mizushima in 1973 with the idea that participants could earn time credits which they could then spend anytime during their life. She based her bank on the simple concept that each hour of time given as services to others could earn reciprocal hours of services for the giver at some stage in the future. Timebanking was introduced to the UK in 1998 and Chesterfield Timebank is proud to be one of the very first to be established in this country.
Chesterfield Timebank aim to engage as many people as possible in meaningful actives in their daily lives. Timebanking is about allowing everyone to contribute with whatever they have and making it easy and fun to take part s eg gardening, running, crafting etc the lives of many will be richer. We hope to help tackle the problem of lonely people, with nothing meaningful to do and ill mental health compounded by isolation etc through facilitating these time exchanges and that this two-way interaction (give time of yourself and receiving time from others) will allow everyone to shine.

WAIT TO SEE THE SMALLER ME
I'm challenging myself to get fitter and plan to achieve this by doing the Park run at Poolsbrook as often as I can. I'm aiming to knock 2 minutes off my personal best (not saying what that is - suffice to say that sometimes my run would be more accurately described as a stroll!) by the end of September. The charity I'm fund-raising for is Chesterfield Time Bank, which can proudly boast to be one of the very first Time Banks in the whole of the UK! Although the currency they trade in is TIME , alas real money is also needed to pay for things like rent, insurance, telephone etc . Many thanks in advance for your support. Happy Timebanking .............
We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.
We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.
We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
