About Holding On Letting Go

Holding On Letting Go provides bereavement support to children, young people aged 6-16 and their families who live in Kent. They have lost someone special to them and are often struggling to cope. We invite the children and young people to attend a weekend where they get to meet others in a similar situation, tell their story and share experiences, discuss their loss and be helped to hold onto good memories and let go of painful ones. We help the children and young people to find ways of coping and developing resilience. We do not charge families for our service. We are totally reliant on donations and fundraising to provide this service and are so grateful for your support. Thank you.

This year, I am raising money for a well deserving small, Kent based, charity - Holding On Letting Go. This amazing charity do incredible work, supporting bereaved children. Losing a loved one is devastating and HOLG provide support weekends for children, promoting resiliance and providing emotional support. It is also an opportunity for children to meet others who have experienced loss - knowing they are not alone.
This charity is incredibly close to my heart, as my own children lost both their father and their grandfather within a few short weeks of each other. It is hard to imagine the pain of telling your children that Daddy has gone to heaven, then a few weeks later, so has Grandad. My children were heartbroken and, understandably, found it incredibly difficult to cope with this huge loss. Losing Daddy and Grandad has had a big impact on my sons, and whilst we are all moving forward, it is still very difficult at times, and this loss will always be there.
The photo, of my two wonderful sons, was taken on the day of Daddy's funeral, 3 years ago.
I was recommended to HOLG, and I can't thank the amazing staff and volunteers there enough. They understand and offer truly valuable and much needed support. HOLG are totally reliant on donations, fundraising events and grants. Every penny counts, so please help me this year in raising funds for this incredible charity.
It doesn't bear thinking about, but if the worst did happen, and your children lost you, or someone close to them, they would really need a resource like HOLG.
Thank you for your support x

Brighton Colour Obstacle Rush

Hannah and I have been volunteering for Holding On Letting Go for 9 months now and when we first arrived, we were absolutely blown away with the work Holding On Letting Go do for bereaved children and parents/carers. This charity is so close to both of our hearts as both of us have experienced death of a loved one in childhood and understand how difficult it is as a child to deal with these painful emotions. This work they do continuously as well as on the support weekends helps them deal with their grieving process and gives them this insight and comfort to know they are not alone. Holding On Letting Go is not a government funded charity therefore relies on the support from corporate sponsorship and donations, our aim is to help raise money as well awareness for this charity as a loss of loved one will affect every single one of us in our lifetime.

The need for this support work is so important to ensure that children and young people are able to deal with their grieving process in a healthy way.
One parent dies every 22 minutes leaving behind dependent children in the UK, this is why the work Holding On Letting Go do is so significant. Through this voluntary experience we have realised the support that is given to these children is life changing as well as the parent/carers who are also offered support in dealing with their own grief as well as their dependant. We both wish we had this kind of support network in place when we were going through this process and honestly cannot thank Holding On Letting Go enough for letting us now be a part of it.

There will be 5 of us taking part in the 5K Colour Obstacle Rush in Brighton on June the 22nd 2019 in aid to raise money for this amazing cause.
Any donations would help make a difference.Thank you, Megan and Hannah x

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
