Horizon is an end-to-end legal advice clinic which takes the individual applying for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Employment & Support Allowance (ESA) through all stages of the application and appeal process. We assess their eligibility for the benefit, help them with form filling, draft Mandatory Reconsideration Notices, draft Tribunal Submissions as well as take cases to the Upper Tribunal.
We have partnered with six commercial law firms: Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, Clifford Chance, Ashurst, O'Melveny & Myers, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett who help us source supervising qualified solicitors. We have also partnered with Queen Mary University and Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) who help us recruit passionate volunteer advisors who work alongside the qualified solicitors to provide the client with a sense of continuity and unwavering support during some of the most difficult times in their lives. Furthermore, we have also enlisted the help of an umbrella supervisor who is a welfare law expert. He fact-checks the legal advice provided by the clinic and assures it adheres to current welfare law and implementation procedures.
Horizon enjoys a unique feature as we not only take care of the representation side of the process, but we also prepare and empower the client to stand up for their truth in front of the First Tier Tribunal by conducting mock tribunals to improve upon their communication and engagement levels.
We operate pan-London, are located in Newham, and run the advice sessions from the facilities of Shpresa Programme.
This initiative would greatly benefit from being supported financially for the purposes of covering daily operations and expanding of capacity. We would be most grateful if you could donate as much as you can afford. Every penny helps!
The Horizon Team
If you'd like to run, swim, bake (or do anything else to raise some money), click the button below to get started. It's quick and easy to register and by doing so here at Wonderful.org, you can be sure that every penny raised will reach Horizon Legal Advice Clinic.
We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.
We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.
We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
