Mama Biashara works with the poorest and most marginalised women in Kenya, women who are sexually abused along with their children. We rescue and relocate the women and children - providing medical help where necessary - to a place of safety and then give a grant to set up group businesses allowing the women to support themselves and their children, in safety, within a supportive community, providing a roof over their heads, food and education. With financial independence these families have a safe, happy future. In this way, Since 2012, Mama Biashara has set more that 15,000 Kenyans up in new, safe, financially independant lives. Given that each woman (and, increasingly men) has an average of 4 children, that means together we have given over 75,000 people a roof over their heads, food and education. That number increases exponentially each day as the way Mama Biashara works, each business person is pledged to help start others just as they themselves were started. Currently we are also working in association with a home in Nairobi which exists to rescue and care for survivors of child rape and, where necessary, the children of those rapes. Believe it or not, £25.00 will set up a viable, expandable business.

The Co-operative Bank are proud to be the main sponsorship partner of the Wonderful Organisation supporting charities to make a difference by ensuring 100% of donations go directly to doing good. Learn more about the Bank’s values and ethics.
We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.
We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.
We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
