Team DNS Take on Derby 10KContinuing their support for chosen charity Me&Dee, four DNS team members have kicked off 2020 as many others have – by pulling on their trainers.
The difference is, this isn’t just a New Year’s resolution that will fall by the wayside by 31st January… the team has entered the Derby 10K and they’re determined not only to smash the distance, but to raise some serious funds for Me&Dee while they’re at it!Derby 10K this year takes place on 29th March.
It’s Derby’s biggest race, attracting thousands of runners from the region and beyond.
Starting and finishing alongside Derby County’s iconic Pride Park Stadium, just a stone’s throw from the DNS office, the route passes though the city centre taking in some of Derby’s famous landmarks en route.
The atmosphere and camaraderie among the runners is fantastic and hundreds of supporters line the streets to cheer them on.The DNS 10K team comprises Elliott Minns, Hugh Sutherland, Lauren Gwynne and Sarah Clements.
Sarah is an experienced runner who will be helping the team with their training in the lead up to the event, as well as pacing them on the day.
Hugh commented:
“We’re a strong team and we relish a challenge!
We’re really looking forward to taking on the famous 10K route through the streets of the city.
Of course, knowing that we’re raising vital funds for Me&Dee will really help to keep us motivated – we know there are going to be many occasions leading up to the race when it’s cold, rainy or we’re tired and just don’t feel like training.
On those days, thinking of the families that Me&Dee help will really spur us on.
If anyone would like to make a donation through our Just Giving page we’d be very grateful!”If you’re taking part in, or watching, the Derby 10k on 29th March please give Team DNS a cheer!
Donations can be made via Just Giving and will go directly to Me&Dee, to help families affected by life-changing and life-limiting illnesses. Thank you for your support...and wish us luck!

Walk to Bondi Beach for me&dee

Imagine receiving news that a loved one has been diagnosed with a condition that will change not only their life but the lives of the whole family. In one short sentence, everything changes. This has happened recently to one of our 4N family. They have been able to make some precious memories at the seaside because of Me & Dee. We want to enable more families to be able to create their own memories that will last forever.
So what could we do?
Well, we can all walk!

So that's our challenge .. between 25th April 2019 and 24th December 2019 we have pledged to collectively walk the 10, 542 miles from Nottingham to Bondi Beach in Sydney - and back again.
A total of 21,084 miles in 8 months.
Every day/week we will submit our miles (via a step counter app) to our website so it can be verified and you can keep track of where we are and how much further we have to go.
We'd love your support to help make more memories.
Those taking part are listed below. Most of us have set ourselves an individual target and our pledges are next to our names - but we are all doing our bit!Deirdre Westwood 1500 milesVicky Stanton

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
