About Nurture A Child

Nurture A Child is a charity dedicated to promoting and assisting the development of opportunities for children and young people. We work in tandem alongside existing charities, local authorities, sporting organisations and other partner agencies to identify, create, facilitate and deliver opportunities that are often beyond the reach and remit of existing child support agencies and networks.

Our aim is to improve the confidence, aspirations, life chances and advancement of young people through exposure to education, business, sports, arts, culture and science. In short, it's an extension of what any parent would do for their own child.

Hull Care Leavers

I work with young people in Hull aged 16-25yrs who have been in and are leaving the care system. I work to help young people to have their voices heard and develop services and support for young people. Some young people have had a really tough time and difficult starts in life. They often do not have very positive family networks or general networks of support having to rely on the local authority for things most of us take for granted. I have been working with Nurture a Child for a number of years to offer young people additional support so that that they can access education and training opportunities, positive activities, even holidays which they do not often get to experience. The work the Local Authority and the Charity does for its young people is incredible and I hope I contribute to making life easier and more enjoyable for young people.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
