About Redruth Town Band

We are a charity that aims to promote the study, practice and encouragement of brass music in all its forms in order to foster public knowledge and appreciation of such music by means of public performance or otherwise, including training and education of brass and percussion musicians.

The Redruth Town Band perform at contests and are available to hire to perform at concerts, including fetes, fairs, carnivals or any entertainment activity of your choice. Fees are dependent on requirements.

We also have a development band, Redruth Brass, and they promote the learning of all ages from beginners to those returning to playing or just maybe needing more confidence with music. All welcome!!

Rehearsals are as follows: Redruth Town Band Mondays and Thursdays 7.45pm-9.30pm

Redruth Brass Wednesdays 7.15pm-9.00pm

On 14th September 2019 at the Brass Band National Finals of Great Britain, a contest made up of 18 bands, Redruth finished as runners-up, producing accounts full of detailed precision and warm ensemble sounds backed by excellent solo contributions that brought the stylistic character of the music to the fore.

At the helm, the direction of Andrew Craze spoke of the hard work spent on banding basics that resulted in displays of mature musicality. The band have grown in strength, character and musicality over the past year and this is demonstrated in their enjoyable and engaging performances.

Redruth returned home proud with their efforts. A band with a rich history dating back to the 1830s, it has been rejuvenated in the last year by the return of local lad Andrew.

And whilst it's rare that a performance as good as theirs misses out on top spot at Fourth Section level, you suspect they are a band to watch out for in the coming few years.  A massive achievement!

Redruth Town Band was victorious, securing a hat trick of wins at Bugle on Saturday 15th June in the 4th Section at the 95th Annual West of England Bandsmen’s Festival.

Redruth secured their victory after a solid performance, engaging the audience with their impressive sound, dynamic contrast and stability of tempo. The band has been working hard with high standards expected and created under the Musical Direction of Andrew Craze.

This follows on from the band’s recent successes at the  95th Annual West of England Bandsmen’s Festival Bugle, 2019 West of England Regional Championships and the SWBBA Contest in November 2018 which gained them the placing at the National Finals.

The band promotes their music by engaging in a busy engagement schedule to help support the daily running costs, however, this becomes challenging during busy periods including contesting schedules and education in all levels of music.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
