Sarah does Ballroom Battles
Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a keen dancer. Generally any performances I take part in are in a group situation where I can safely hide my occasional heffalumpy moments, but for some insane reason I have decided (read: had my arm twisted by a very effective fundraiser) to take part in Ballroom Battles - a Strictly inspired dance event in which I will be competing against 28 other dancers in front of a crowd of approximately 500 people(!!) There will be sparkly costumes (hurrah!), fake tan (probably) and apparently some form of video-ed 'skits' (cringe).
In order to do this I will be putting myself through a 6 week training programme (4 hour rehearsals every week!) supervised by a professional dancer/choreographer. What would make all the effort and embarrassment worthwhile is if you, my lovely friends, would donate and help me reach my fundraising target. You can even come and watch me on 27 October - tickets available online at https://selfhelpafrica.org/uk/tickets-ballroom-battles/
All my efforts are in aid of Self Help Africa, an international development NGO that helps farming communities in eight countries in sub-Saharan Africa turn subsistence agriculture into a reliable source of food and income. I work for SHA and, having been to see our projects in the field, have seen first hand how the work we do changes lives. Anything you can donate will be very much appreciated and, more importantly, make a difference to the smallholder farmers we work with.
