Drakes Island Swim

The Chestnut Appeal raises funds to help men with prostate cancer & their families across Devon and Cornwall. The aim of the Chestnut Appeal is to: Increase awareness, fund specialist nurses and fund the latest treatments not available on the NHS. We also raise awareness of Testicular Cancer and Penile Cancer.

I will be swimming a mile round the island - in what ever the weather throws at me!
If you could spare anything to support my swim on Sunday it would be most appreciated. Thanks
Hi guys! I am swimming to Drake's Island & back (roughly 1 mile!) to raise money for the Chestnut Appeal, a charity that helps prostate cancer patients in the South West! This is my 1st open water organised swim & I'm looking forward to completing the challenge in aid of good cause!
For this event I will be doing what I love (swimming outdoors) and learning to overcome a fear (swimming over deeper darker water with imaginary beasties) all in the name of a good cause that does excellent work. Thank you for your support.
In a few weeks I will be attempting to run my first marathon! And not just any marathon - the London marathon!! I feel privileged to have been given a ballot place but would like to raise some funds for The Chestnut Appeal for Men's Health in Devon and Cornwall. My amazing husband John has just been diagnosed with prostate cancer following my Dad's diagnosis last Summer and we know several other men who are currently being treated. I'd like to raise awareness of the most common men's cancer, which is treatable when caught early enough. It's going to be tough and emotional but if you can spare a couple of pounds to help me do something positive I would really appreciate it!! Thank you so much!Kath xxx
I’m Swimming tosupport men who need it- anywhere and everywhere...
I'm doing a chilly swim around a lovely place to support a really good charity!
I am swimming this 1.5 mile round the mount. Prostate cancer isn't sexy and I don't know anyone with the disease. That is why I am raising money for this cause rather than the multitude of others that seem to get all the publicity and the glory.
I know I said I wouldn't do it again but after my own experience I thought I'd go round one more time!
On August 11th Im going to swim around St Michaels Mount, starting on the beach at Marazion and all being well sat with a welcome pasty some 40 minutes later! This year the Chestnut Appeal are hoping to raise money for mpMRI scanners for all the major hospitals in the region and money raised will go to supporting this fund.
This will be my fourth Breakwater Swim, covering a distance of 2.2 miles from Plymouths historic Breakwater in the middle of Plymouth Sound back to dry land at Tinside beach. A swim time of around 1.5 hours in approximately 16 degree water.
The Co-operative Bank are proud to be the main sponsorship partner of the Wonderful Organisation supporting charities to make a difference by ensuring 100% of donations go directly to doing good. Learn more about the Bank’s values and ethics.
We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.
We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.
We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
