About The Tingewick Trust

Tingewick is a charity run by Oxford Medical School students and was established in 1940. Every year, a newly installed Tingewick Committee selects two charities to be the beneficiaries for that year's fundraising.

Our 2019 charities are Aspire Oxford (https://www.aspireoxfordshire.org/) and OSARCC (https://www.oxfordrapecrisis.net/), two fantastic charities providing much needed work internationally and locally, respectively.

Aspire Oxford is a multi-award-winning employment charity and social enterprise. It has set out to help vulnerable people who are homeless, long-term unemployed, ex-offenders, people in recovery or those with poor mental well-being to move into the world of work, giving them work experience on their own enterprise businesses and the person-centred support they need to make their own lasting change.

Established in 2001, Aspire has been tackling the most complex social issues in Oxfordshire for over 17 years. They support vulnerable local people into and towards employment, as the most powerful way to break the complex cycles of homelessness, re-offending and poverty.

Oxfordshire Sexual Assault and Rape Crisis Centre (OSARCC) is committed to supporting survivors of sexual abuse, rape, domestic abuse, and harassment. They offer a free and confidential service to women and girls who are dealing with the effects of sexual violence, and to anyone who is supporting them.

OSARCC provide a diverse range of effective services that meet the needs of women and girls in Oxfordshire who are affected by sexual violence, raise awareness of the prevalence and impact of sexual violence and the needs for specialist services to support survivors as well as challenging and changing public attitudes about sexual violence in Oxfordshire and beyond.

To raise money for these charities, we hold a number of events throughout the year, including a student pantomime in November as well as attempting various challenges, such as a the Three Peaks Challenge. The 2018 team raised over £40,000 for their chosen charities, which was an incredible achievement! Please donate generously to help us raise even more!

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
