.Youth With A Future (YWAF) is a registered charity that was launched in 2003. It was set up initially to support any projects working with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or threatened with homelessness in the Mendip area of Somerset.
Over the years, YWAF has worked alongside and mainly supported the work of YMCA Mendip and the young people who live at Street Foyer, Frome Foyer and Grace Harris House, Shepton Mallet. These supported housing schemes take in young people aged 16 to 25 years who would not otherwise have anywhere to live. Many are 'sofa-surfing' (staying with friends and sleeping on their sofas/floors) for long periods of time, having no place to call home; many are leaving local authority care at the age of 16+ and cannot live with their parents for various reasons; many have suffered family breakdown or bereavement and find it difficult to settle. Most are not in education, training or employment, but despite everything, some do manage to maintain college courses and go to work.
The YMCA Mendip Supported Housing Projects have staff who ensure that the young people receive consistent, caring support that is practical and meets whatever needs they may have. They also have access to all sorts of outside help from other agencies that can support the young residents to help them with mental health issues, substance misuse, finding education, training and employment and so on. Very importantly, the staff ensure that these young people are kept safe, with consistent boundaries – two things that are incredibly important to give them stability. Everyone has hopes, dreams and ambitions, but if you are young, homeless, rootless and have no parental support, life can seem pretty impossible. YMCA Mendip also deliver youth work in several youth clubs in Frome, Coleford, Shepton Mallet, Glastonbury and Street.
YWAF also supports individuals and community groups and other charities working with 16-25 year olds in a variety of settings. For further information please see the Grants page of our website - www.ywaf.org.uk YWAF is especially keen to support young people who have had a difficult start in life to pursue education, training and career opportunities through the use of grants to purchase college kits and equipment and so on.

The Co-operative Bank are proud to be the main sponsorship partner of the Wonderful Organisation supporting charities to make a difference by ensuring 100% of donations go directly to doing good. Learn more about the Bank’s values and ethics.
We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.
We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.
We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
