Team Autism Angels UK’s story
From 26th December we will be walking 500 miles around Yorkshire in order to raise much needed funds for this beloved charity.
Sarah and Nicki will be walking with the beautiful horses Akua-Blue and Riley in order to raise awareness for Autism, Mental Health and the power of Nature.
Just like it is not possible to take a wild horse into the city centre and expect it to conform, it is also not always possible for a person to do the same. We need training, we need the opportunity to make mistakes and we need people to have their awareness raised about how to thrive in adversity in order for this to happen.
This is possibly the worst time of the year to do a walk like this but we have chosen to do so because it is also such a powerful time of the year. January is when most people feel alone, depressed, the rates of domestic abuse rises and the amount of children being taken into care peaks significantly. Parents who have children with additional needs make up a high part of those statistics. We hope to raise money so that those who are most affected can get quick and life changing support from the team at Autism Angels.
