Team Social Work Society’s story

As Student Social Workers, we are passionate about promoting social justice. By participating in this event, we aim to raise awareness for the current homelessness crisis and to raise funds for those affected within the Chelmsford area. On the 22nd November, we are going to experience sleeping rough outside Chelmsford Cathedral to raise funds for CHESS, who help support people who are homeless through night shelters to moving on into independent accommodation. We realise this is for only one night and people spend every single night outside in the cold, however we feel it is important to spend a moment in somebodies life to understand their experiences and ways we can support them. We’d appreciate your support by either donating where possible or sharing the page to spread awareness.

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
