Chadwick Brothers RunDisney!
On 20th October this year our 2 scamps are lucky enough to be travelling to Walt Disney World, Florida for another once in a lifetime holiday!
Whilst we are there the RunDisney Wine n Dine half marathon is taking place over the the first weekend in November.
The boys thought that it would be nice if they could give something back to the community on their fantastic holiday, so decided that they would run the Kids Mile and each be sponsored for a local charity that means something to them.
Elliott's choice was relatively easy. He wanted to run for Embrace (Wigan & Leigh). Embrace have helped us as a family since Elliott was diagnosed with Autism back in 2016 and last year gave him an amazing opportunity to take part in their wonderful Adventure Service Challenge scheme. He was able to partake in some great activities over 16 weeks to help him not only with his social skills development, but also helping him to learn life skills like cooking and first aid. They also had good fun doing things like bowling and roller skating. He regularly asks when he can go back and do it again.
Elijah chose a local charity also close to our hearts, Wigan Youth Zone. Elliott and Elijah's dad has been a board member of the Youth Zone for several years, providing his time and professional expertise, so has seen the fantastic work done by the Youth Zone for the children of Wigan in providing a safe space filled with fabulous activities for them to do. They have group nights and a great inclusion policy too.
In order to make sponsorship of the boys simple and fair to both, we have set up one fund raising page, which is in Embrace's name, so money pledged will go directly to Embrace. Embrace have agreed that they will split the money raised by the boys directly in half and make the donation to the Youth Zone. This way we can benefit from an official charity page and take advantage of Gift Aid for those of you who are taxpayers.
And just in case the prospect of the 2 boys running a mile in the 30 degree heat isn't enough to tempt you into sponsoring them, it should be noted that I, their mother, who hasn't ran since running for the school bus in 1987, has agreed to accompany them on the mile. Elliott has already informed me he's planning a sprint...so should be interesting to say the least...
We would love it if you could sponsor the boys, even if its just a little bit as every little helps!
