Team Five Rivers’s story
Some of the Five Rivers Team will be walking an incredible 50km route over the Beacon Beacons in Wales. The walk will tale place on Saturday the 6th July and cover a circular route along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. An early start will see the team set out along the canal to the Talybont Forest followed by the Taf Fechan Forest. The route then exits the forests and we begin our ascent to Fan y Big, one of the four highest peaks in the Brecon Beacons. They will continue the ascent up to the summit of Pen y Fan – with stunning views across the rolling countryside and mountains of this National Park.
The team are challenging themselves in aid of The Rivers Trust - the umbrella body of the Rivers Trust Movement, working to protect, promote and enhance our freshwater ecosystems for both people and wildlife. Never have freshwater habitats been more at risk than they are today... Increasing threats from human pressures such as abstraction, pollution, urban development, intensive agriculture and human development. So help us engage with and carry out practical on the ground environmental improvement works alongside planners, landowners and local communities by supporting the work of The Rivers Trust.
