Team RCSK ’s story
Most of you will know of the tragic circumstances in which Micheala and her family lost Mark, a much loved brother, son, uncle and father in December 2016 and her cousin Carl earlier this year, both at very young ages.
If you care share have been a fantastic support to the family during this horrific time providing interventions to assist during their grief, where possible and we would like to do something to say a huge thanks for that support, for which the family are eternally grateful.
The work this charity does for all is truly amazing, preventing, intervening and supporting those affected by suicide and grief. We are also aware of and thankful for other interventions with loved ones, which have saved lives and supported mental health. They need as much money as possible to continue the excellent work they do so they can continue to help more and more people.
So, against our better judgement as we are categorically not, nor ever have been runners, Micheala thought it would be a great idea to challenge ourselves and complete the great north run, not when we were sprightly but aged 41. (I suspect I agreed to this whilst under the influence of chemo or maybe wine... I think I was promised jelly babies...) we do thankfully have a couple of fitter folk in the mix with the lovely Rebecca and Catherine.
If you sponsor us we will get to the finish line come hook or by crook, with good humour and without the aid of the sweeper I promise - as IUCS deserves our best efforts in thanks. Any donations or sponsorship would be gratefully received however big or small and we will try and keep you amused on our journey.
With love and thanks
Kayla, Rebecca, Catherine and Sarah xxx (RSCK)
