This is my fundraising page for the Great North Run taking place on Sunday September 9th. Running in aid of Magic Moments for Autistic Children.
I'm Ollie, I live in Scunthorpe and I've been a keen runner for the last few years. I have participated in a number of marathons and half-marathons including the Great North Run the last two years for Magic Moments. I have also taken part in a number of 10km races and also like to do Parkrun on Saturday mornings. As mentioned before, I ran in the GNR in 2017 and 2018 for Magic Moments - I found both days inspiring and the atmosphere and support unlike any other, and to know I was making a difference for such a worthwhile charity made the event even better. When presented with the opportunity to run it again this year needless to say I did not have to think twice. The race is one of my favourites that I've ever done by far for many reasons such as the atmosphere, the support, the music when running around, the route itself, the organisation of the whole event etc. Like the last two years it will be a fantastic day again and one that I am very much looking forward to.
Great North Run 2019
Magic Moments for Autistic Children is a charity based in my hometown Scunthorpe, and they work to help children on the autistic spectrum. They raise money to fund recreational activities, short breaks, day trips and holidays for autistic children and for their families and carers in North Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire. The charity used to have a partnership with the local supermarket Sainsbury's, who I worked for for five and a half years, and through that I was able to see the dedicated, devoted and simply inspiring work that was done to help the children. Therefore, when I was offered the chance to run the Great North Run on behalf of them again, I leapt at the chance. Though I do not personally know anybody with autism, I have seen the amazing work that they Magic Moments do for the local children community, and after all they give I wanted to give them something back. Any donation would be greatly appreciated, no matter how big or small, as any amount will really help. Their webste is http://www.magicmomentsforautistickids.org/home.html for more info
