Emily’s story

The Great North Run is a half marathon located in Newcastle. This year I have decided to take part to raise money for Team Evie. Team Evie is a charity which raises funds to help sick children and their families who are facing similar challenges which their own daughter Evie faced.

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

Team Evie

We are a charity set up in memory of Evie Johnston, and we operate in Cumbria and across the North East helping sick children and their families.

We support families by providing essential items when they are rushed to hospital; we make lots of donations to multiple ward and medical teams that help to make children?s time in hospital more bearable; we support the work of the fantastic community nurses who help look after poorly children at home; and we also offer a bereavement support service consisting of online support, monthly support groups and more?

By supporting the wonderful work of the Nectar Ambulance Team, West Cumberland Hospital, Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle, The West and North Cumbria Community Nurses, The Great North Children?s Hospital and more we aim to make a difference to those who face similar challenges to those Evie and her family faced?and we hope to make Evie proud.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
