Most people are surprised when they find out that Fiona suffers from Autoimmune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) because she looks physically fit and healthy. It is not something that she likes to broadcast or seek any attention for. I am so proud of how she copes with this condition, however, I get to see first hand how this affects her and how simple tasks can sometimes become a bit of a struggle. She just gets on with it and doesn’t let it stop her from doing anything she wants to achieve. The most traumatic part of having this illness is probably having to let me give her an injection once a week to keep her platelets at a safe level! This year I am running the half marathon in the Great Scottish Run and I decided to use this as an opportunity to raise a little bit of awareness of a condition that is not that common in the UK, but it could affect anyone at any time. If anyone would like to sponsor me, any little amount would be greatly appreciated. Any donations go directly to ITP Support Association. Thank you.
