Hey all! This summer I will be doing some Long Swims and I will be doing it to raise money for the Friends of St Bart's - that's the school in Sydenham where my friend Dan is assistant head. They're currently in the process of building a new playground and any money I'm able to raise will go towards that. It's a massive project and by the end of it they should have a ton of amazing play equipment which will be used and appreciated by hundreds of kids in years to come. Play is important for health (physical and mental), learning, and creativity so I think it's a great cause!
Anyway that's why I am doing but here is what I am doing - first, on June 16 I'm going to be doing the Oxford Lock-to-Lock 4km river swim. I've done longer distances than that in the pool but open water is a different kind of challenge and I'm looking forward to testing myself! Then I'm going to train hard over the rest of the summer and on September 15 I will be doing the Dart 10km swim. This is like the London Marathon of swims in terms of time (probably around 3.5 hours), difficulty and also general gloriousness so I'm very excited (and a little bit scared, but in a good way).
