Team Manna Society’s story
The Manna Society is a UK registered charity (charity number: 294691) who work with homeless people and those in need. We run a day centre (the Manna Centre) which is open 7 days a week, 51 weeks of the year. We offer the following six services, breakfast & lunch, shower & washing facilities, clothing, housing & welfare advice, medical care and access to computers. All of our services are free.
On an average day we see between 120-150 people per day. Approximately three quarters of our service users are homeless or in temporary accommodation (44% sleeping rough, 12% in hostels, 13% staying with friends and 5% squatting. 45% are in receipt of Social Security Benefit, 51% have no income and 4% have income from another source – November 2018 figs).
It costs approximately £450,000 per year to provide our services. The only two sources of assured funding we have at the beginning of each financial year is £55,000 from the London Borough of Southwark (our local authority) and £60,000 from regular standing orders (individual donors). The remaining 74% has to be raised.
Any help that you can give will benefit some of the poorest and most marginalised people in our society.
