Jennie’s story

I am going to be taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon in 2019 and would love it if you would sponsor me.

I am doing this to support Willen Hospice because they cared for my daughter in law in 2012 when she had a brain tumour. All the staff at the hospice were wonderful and really helped Sarah and also the family to get through a terrible time.

This will be the first time I've done anything like this and at the age of 70, this will be an incredible achievement for me (and will definitely be a one off!). So please give whatever you can spare and help me support the amazing work of Willen Hospice with this challenge.

Thank you for your support.

Willen Hospice

Willen Hospice provides specialist care for people whose illness no longer responds to curative treatment (also known as specialist palliative care) for people from the age of 18 years upwards in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas. The Hospice is based at a quiet lakeside area close to the City Centre. Our services are free to those we care for but to continue to offer that care we need to raise around £4.7million every year, that's £9 every minute, from the local community.

The annual running costs of the Hospice is around £5.9 million - we're very grateful to have 22% of these costs met by the NHS. The remaining 78% needs to be raised from the local community and without the support, dedication and generosity of people just like you, we couldn't provide the care we do.

Registered Charity Number: 270194.

Our wonderful partners

Our wonderful partners - who support us with cash and services - make it possible for us to pass EVERY PENNY raised from your fundraising efforts and generous donations to our charities, including Gift Aid. Of course, we would be unable to do so without them.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
