For the past two and a half years I have been suffering from Anorexia Nervosa, a mental health illness that has some very serious and devastating physical effects. My body was slowly giving up on me and I had a choice, to either continue with what I was doing and die or I could fight back and recover. As you can probably guess by the fact you’re reading this I chose to fight. This is something I could not have done without my amazing mum, who was literally my rock throughout it all. My Mum, Caroline Gaskin, also happens to be the fundraising officer for this amazing charity, and we as a family are very passionate about the help the charity does.
A year and a half ago I could just about manage to walk around Sainsbury’s and I am now using my healthy body to run this race, the London Asics 10k on the 21st July. A way of raising money for an excellent cause, giving something back to my Mum to thank her for everything she has and continues to do to support me, and to celebrate my body for what it can do and the fact it’s here strong after everything I put it through.
Thank you for taking your time to read this, anything you could donate would mean the world to me.
