Team Roskill 3 Peaks ’s story

Roskill taking on some new rocks!

Well, peaks. Specifically, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

Report writing and consultancy services are in our blood here at Roskill- But we also support numerous charities throughout the year. For 2019 we are undertaking our biggest challenge yet. The National Three Peaks, in support of the MMTA Friends of Mufulira.

On the 2nd of August we will begin the challenge at the foot of Ben Nevis before moving on to Scafell Pike and finally, Snowdon.

We are scaling the 3 peaks with assistance from Adventure Cafe, who will be providing transport and guides to get our team of 18 through the 23 miles (37km!) of trekking and 3064 metres (10,052ft) of climbing!

Every penny raised will go to Friends Of Mufulira.

Can't donate right now? Some words of encouragement gratefully received! Tweet us @roskill_info

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

Friends of Mufulira

Our MMTA Charity, Friends of Mufulira (FOM), arises out of The Minor Metals Trade Association’s wish to publicly recognize the communities in developing countries upon which we all depend on for the supply of metals.

Mufulira, on the copperbelt in Zambia, offered itself via the personal links that some members of the MMTA had with this town. Other regions and places could have been chosen, but in Mufulira we were able to build on links already established in the mind of our community and it was also felt that concentrating resources on one place would have the greatest beneficial impact. Mufulira is therefore a symbol for all mining towns that lie at the start of the long supply chain that brings metals out of the ground to start their long journey towards their final and, sometimes astonishing, applications.

The Friends of Mufulira charitable goals are to promote the education and health of people in the Mufulira community. Friends of Mufulira aims to achieve these goals through fundraising for necessary medical and school equipment along with understanding what the needs are for the local Mufulira community.

The MMTA has set up a medical elective programme which sends two or three NHS trainee doctors to the Ronald Ross General Hosptial in Mufulira each year. It is a link from which both sides continue to prosper and we hope in future years to build on this programme with some reciprocity, so that Zambian doctors or nurses can travel to the UK for study. The MMTAs links could not have been built up or grown without the help and support of the community of people in Somerset UK, who had built their own personal links between schools and hospitals dating back to the mid 1990.

Registered Charity Number: 1176062.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
