This week our merry little team head off for a thankfully not too hot, not too cold, not too windy and not to wet Paris for a wonderful summer holiday.
Sadly, upon arriving in Paris we need to cycle to Brest. And then back again to Paris. Without really stopping. And probably without really sleeping (although I have tried before to sleep whilst riding the bike, it didn't end well).
This is the 19th edition of Paris-Brest-Paris - a 1,200km ride held once every four years generally considered to be the pinnacle of ultra endurance riding. Some 6,000 riders will be lining up to take on this challenge. For anyone questioning why this is fun, please google "type 2 fun".....
Much type 2 fun has been had already in training for this event - some 10,000km having being clocked up this year in freezing wet January (and February, March, April....) and a baking hot July. It really is fun. Trust me.
My ride starts at 5:30pm on Sunday, the time limit for the ride is 90 hours (including all stops) thus I must be back in Paris by 11:30am on Thursday.
More information on the challenge is here:
