Giulia’s story

On the 4th of August I will take part in the Prudential ride, a 100 miles ride throughout London and the Surrey hills. I am very excited to be part of it but needless to say it will be hard, as much as I love cycling it will be quite a challenge.

To find some extra motivation I decided to fundraise for my favourite charity, Baraka!

Any kind of donation will make a difference and by helping them you’ll give me lots of support throughout the ride!

Thank you

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

Baraka Community Partnerships

Baraka Community Partnerships is a small charity founded in 2007 working in Zambia and Laos. We are registered with the Charity Commission and committed to complying with their best practice guidance.

We believe the best route out of poverty is Education and about 80% of our funds are spent on educational initiatives. We build classrooms, school dormitories and toilet blocks, provide educational resources, train teachers and sponsor children and young adults. We also have a number of water and sanitation programmes as well as healthcare initiatives. 70% of our funds are spent in Zambia and the rest in Laos.

Rather than telling communities and schools what they need we like to work with them and form partnerships. Where possible we ask our communities/schools to contribute in some form such as labour or local materials. We never hand out cash.

As we are a small charity we keep our costs low and 100% of donations go directly to Zambia and Laos. Any donation, however small, is enormously appreciated and valued.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
