Team RJM Peloton’s story

A group of us from RJ McLeod are cycling from Glasgow to Edinburgh with Pedal for Scotland on Sunday, 8th September. We hope to raise money for Common Wheel while we're at it. Any donations would be greatly appreciated!

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

Common Wheel

Common Wheel supports people with mental illness by providing meaningful activities. We have three established projects. Our bike project supports people in repairing and rebuilding old bikes. New clients participate in a 'Build Your Own Bike' course using a donated frame and a mixture of new and recycled parts. At the end of the course each participant is the proud owner of a customised bike. A few participants stay with the project and work on repairs and refurbishing bikes for members of the public, which helps with income generation. Our music project supports people in singing, playing and composing music. Our visual arts project 'Carnival Club' supports people in designing and producing large scale art pieces to be displayed in various parades in Glasgow. A fourth project, indoor climbing, is just getting off the ground. Our projects aim to improve mental wellbeing, reduce isolation, and support people in learning new skills.

The activities are provided at no cost to the participants.

Common Wheel is funded by a combination of grants, income from the bike project, donations and sponsored events, and occasionally legacies.

All funds raised help Common Wheel to offer meaningful activities for people with mental illness and dementia in Glasgow.

Registered Charity Number: SC031798.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
