Erin’s story

I am running my first half marathon to raise funds towards the creation of a children's book to celebrate the life and career of Baroness Brenda Hale, the first female President of the Supreme Court of the UK.

"Her boss said women shouldn't be lawyers because they wouldn't be very good at it.

Brenda ignored him and became very good at it."

Her work has been an inspiration to many, and her humanity gives me courage every day.

The idea is to publish in 2019, one hundred years after the Sex Disqualification (Removal) Act 1919 allowed women to become lawyers for the first time.

Take a look at the taster animation, go to, and please donate if you can. Any excess donations will go towards LAG’s charitable work.

LAG is a national charity committed to improving access to justice, particularly for the vulnerable and socially excluded. To meet these aims, LAG publishes a monthly journal, Legal Action, and authoritative yet accessible legal handbooks that are widely used by lawyers, advisers and voluntary organisations to provide advice and assistance to those in need.

Find out more here at the LAG website.

We set this page up initially to raise funds to create a children’s book about the life and career of Lady Hale, the most senior judge in the United Kingdom.

Thanks to the support from donations combined with a generous grant from the Sigrid Rausing Trust LAG now has sufficient money to publish the children’s book on the life of Lady Hale.

We’d now like to raise some additional funds to ensure that the book speaks directly to as many children as possible by working with children as we develop the book and creating further animations.

If you would like to support the project with to achieve these aims, please go to our appeal page, where you can also leave a comment.

If you would like to support our work generally, please donate here.

Registered Charity Number: 265703.

Our wonderful partners

Our wonderful partners - who support us with cash and services - make it possible for us to pass EVERY PENNY raised from your fundraising efforts and generous donations to our charities, including Gift Aid. Of course, we would be unable to do so without them.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
