SeedforLife.FeedforLife.SCIO is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation the purpose of which is the prevention or relief of poverty and the advancement of education through grant giving activities to support the Community of Bemvu in Malawi.
All monies raised in the UK are sent direct to Bemvu (no middle men) who administer the funds and organise the day to day activities who in turn are required to furnish monthly reports on all activities and expenditure back to SeedforLife. who have to submit returns to Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) as well as HMRC.
The project is a self help, sustainable food aid programme as well as sponsoring children through their secondary education. Monies are sent to purchase seed and fertiliser which at harvest is divided between part going in store in order to feed 1200-1300 primary school children, part being retained by the community to sell at the best price in order to contribute to the purchase of seed and fertiliser for the following season and the balance is retained by the farmers who put in the work to grow the crop.
Currently we are feeding 1200-1300 children every school day which not only has the benefit of preventing malnutrition but also encourages children to attend school.
