Luisa’s story

As part of my 50th birthday celebrations I am raising funds for my Empower Her Project - mobilising girls to fulfil their potential.

Girls in Uganda face challenges that are widely acknowledged worldwide. 50% of girls in Africa are sexually enslaved, out of school and might not live beyond 34 years due to poverty, HIV and AIDS and violence.

Singing Gorilla Empower Her Project will be set up to provide girls with the tools and knowledge they need to preserve their optimism, restore their confidence and create a better world.

Funds raised from this event will purchase hand cranked sewing machines which will be used by the girls of the project to generate income.

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

Singing Gorilla Projects

Singing Gorilla Projects facilitate and fund community based projects in a remote part of Uganda that improve the welfare of communities and enriches the lives of individuals.

Singing Gorilla Projects have set up a music school, installed over 50 water tanks to harvest rain water, sponsored children to continue their schooling and has developed the Nkuringo Green Hill Health Clinic to provide medical care and services for the community, delivered by the community.

Singing Gorilla Projects works closely with the local communities who co-ordinate the work, mobilise the community to get involved and provide leadership and decision making.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
