Skate-a-thon for The Snowflake Trust

£145.00 + £31.25 Gift Aid = £176.25

Sophie’s story

I am taking part in a 12 hour skate-a-thon to raise money for The Snowflake Trust which is a charity close to our family's hearts.

Snowflakes aims to

  • provide a night shelter for genuinely homeless people who would otherwise be sleeping rough in Hastings and St Leonards during the extreme winter months
  • With respect and without discrimination, to engage church members and local people generally with some of the most vulnerable people in the Town in line with Christian principles
  • To provide a warm bed, non-judgemental hospitality and engagement with willing Volunteers to facilitate wellbeing and positive self-esteem
  • Hot drinks, an evening meal and breakfast
  • In liaison with specialist agencies, encouragement in accessing relevant longer term solutions to individual housing and employment needs

Any donation you could make would be gratefully received and would help to provide food and shelter for those in need in Hastings and St Leonards in the year ahead.

The skate-a-thon is the brilliant idea of my 9 year old skate buddy Romy :)

The event is being held at the Source Park on the 11th May and is being sponsored by Stella Dore Gallery.

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

The Snowflake Trust

We provide supervised overnight accommodation to homeless people (our Guests) who would otherwise be sleeping rough in Hastings and St Leonards during the extreme winter months (end-November to mid-March).

Our Guests are referred to us by various local organisations, primarily the Seaview Project and the St John Ambulance Homeless Service, and also the Police and Hastings Borough Council Housing Department.

We see this project as another way of reaching many who live 'life on the fringe'. It does much more than provide comfort and shelter on bitterly cold nights; it could be the start of a new life.

Registered Charity Number: 1119743.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
