Sweden team goes Moldova 2019 for Telecommunications Eastern European Challenge

£840.00 + £0.00 Gift Aid = £840.00
Donated to Susanne’s £840.00 Goal

Susanne’s story

Alice, Carita, Danne and Susanne -will bring humanitarian aid from Sweden to Plop-Stiubei in Moldova.

In Moldova we will join the fantastic team of TEECH volunteers to build toilets in local school and deliver aid to where it is most needed.

The school has no indoor toilets for the 180 children. They currently use an outhouse, a small brick building, with holes in the floor.

The team will turn one room within the school into one bathroom for the boys and one for the girls, which not only provides them with indoor toilets, but privacy and hygienic conditions.

Telecommunications Eastern European Challenge

TEECH was established in 1998 when a group, who worked together at BT near Ipswich, Suffolk took

up the challenge from a colleague to help repair two hospitals in Bucharest.

About fifty volunteers travelled to Bucharest under the banner of ‘BTL Aid to Romania’ in the August

that year and set about painting, plastering, providing lighting and generally making the hospitals

cleaner, safer and brighter places. After the success of this trip, and seeing the need to be more

structured, the volunteers organised themselves into a Registered Charity and hence TEECH

(Telecommunications Eastern European Challenge) was born, retaining the "telecom" connection in

its name.

Our vision is to improve the lives of those in Eastern Europe, who by no fault of their own are living in

conditions not seen in Western Europe since before the war.

TEECH aim to improve their lives by installing sanitary ware into schools, orphanages and elderly

residences where no indoor toilets exist. The charity also delivers aid, including clothing, toys and

shoes to the local communities. By sparking enthusiasm with the local people we hope to enable and

encourage self-help and enterprise to continue after volunteers have left.

All donations, of any size, are used towards projects or the annual Christmas trip to deliver shoebox

parcels by hand to villages and schools in Romania and Moldova.

Registered Charity Number: 1074765.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
