Hey wonderful donator!!
Wayne and Elliot are planning on doing the unthinkable... cutting and donating their luscious locks to raise money for the charity Mind, in what has been branded as "The Well Overdue Trim".
A cause that is close to both of them, Wayne's friend and previous team mate took his own life late last year, whilst Elliot has seen first-hand the devastating impact that depression can have on people close to him. Mental health issues are often linked to American Football as a troubling side effect, a sport which both play and love. For these reasons they are trying to raise awareness of mental health and raise money for the charity Mind.
In addition to the donations to Mind, the guys will be cutting off over 7 inches of their lovingly grown, rapunzel-like hair to donate it to the Little Princess Trust, who provide real hair wigs to children and young adults who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.
The cut will be taking place at Tamworth Phoenix's (their football team) home game on Sunday 17th of June against Merseyside Nighthawks as part of the Northern Premiership Conference. This is at Pack Meadow, in Coleshill, Birmingham, with kick off at 14:00pm, and the cut to take place after the game, at roughly 17.30pm. They are also willing (and apparently trusting enough!) to allow the highest 2 donators to cut some of the hair if they are able to make it to the haircut (and naturally the game).
