caroline’s story

Why I hear you all say am I swimming the length of lake Windermere in just my cozzie, goggles and a cap? To make a difference. I like so many others am living with a family member with Dementia. I want to assist my Dad and everyone else effected to be able to live well with Dementia. I want to enable people to see beyond Dementia . The only way I can see this happening is by raising awareness, removing stigma and providing the much needed support. So I am swimming  time to do this. My close friend Paul is my wing man and will be kayaking the whole way with me. So its very much a team effort and a double challenge . He will be kayaking as slow as possible I will be trying to swim as fast as I can. Also its up to him to make sure is don't swim more that 11miles. Please join us in the Dementia Revolution

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

Dementia UK

Dementia UK provides specialist dementia support for families through our Admiral Nurse service.

When things get challenging or difficult for people with dementia and their families, Admiral Nurses work alongside them. They give the one-to-one support, guidance and practical solutions people need, and that can be hard to find elsewhere.

Admiral Nurses are continually trained, developed and supported by Dementia UK. Families that have their support have someone truly expert and caring by their side - helping them to live more positively with dementia in the present, and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear.

We believe that everyone who needs the support of a specialist dementia nurse should get one, and we’re working hard to increase the number of Admiral Nurses across the UK. To donate to us, please visit We receive no government funding and are entirely reliant on donations, including from people who leave us gifts in their Wills.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
