Smalls for All

Smalls for All® is a charity which collects and distributes underwear to help women and children in Africa and (from 1 August 2019) the UK. For some people, pants and bras are an unaffordable luxury. But they can make a life-changing difference. For example, having pants can help teenage girls complete their education without having to miss school each month during their period. The underwear we collect has gone to many African countries including Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Namibia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zanzibar. We partner with other specialist charities to help us reach those in need. This includes people living in orphanages, slums, IDP camps and schools, as well as those in hospitals suffering from medical conditions like obstetric fistula. For her work with Smalls, our founder Maria Macnamara has received a 'point of light' award, been honoured with an MBE and awarded an honorary doctorate by the Open University.Smalls for All is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation. Charity No: SC041689

Essex Deaf Children's Society

Essex Deaf Children’s Society (EDCS) is completely run by volunteers. Our committee has a wealth of experience and expertise in Deafness and British Sign Language (BSL). Members of the committee consist of parents, professionals and other people with an interest in supporting D/deaf children and their families across Essex. We provide help for families with newly diagnosed D/deaf children by phone or email, signposting parents/carers to relevant support groups, e.g. Parent and Toddler groups and Babysign. We aim to create positive images of D/deaf children and to encourage deaf awareness within the family and the community, promoting independence. We also support RAD and other organisations to run social events throughout the year where families can meet and socialise. These include Christmas parties, summer camps, day trips and picnics. For information on upcoming events view our Twitter feed where we promote events and regularly share news. Please follow us @EssexDCS. The work of Essex Deaf Children’s Society would not be possible without the help of many people and their efforts to fundraise for EDCS. We are extremely grateful for all donations received.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
